Reporting of asbestos related illness is not expected to peak until 2018. Work health and safety law across Australia requires PCBU’s (Employers) must effectively manage asbestos hazards. Asbestos legislation was expanded under the new WH&S law which commenced in 2012. Of the 702 new regulations 110 deal with asbestos. This duty can be discharged in part through asbestos awareness training. Our course covers the history of asbestos and asbestos-carrying materials (ACMs.) Understanding the risks associated with asbestos fibres, the damage they cause, how to report suspected asbestos materials within you workplace and the mandatory reporting of asbestos related incidents to WorkCover.
