At Australian Work Health and Safety, all workplace health and safety courses and safety training are conducted accordingly to the principles of adult learning. Adult learners have a lot of experience so we capitalise on their experiences. We simulate real-life situations and set real WH&S problems to allow them to bring their own workplace safety issues to the session. That way they feel more responsible for their own decisions and their own learning; they also need to know why they need to learn something before they undertake the safety training. A range of delivery methods and learning activities are used including theory presentation, group discussion, practical exercises and a variety of media.
